Royal Air Maroc Shifts Pilot Training to Moroccan Military School Amid Layoffs

Royal Air Maroc has sent 16 new airline student pilots for training at the Royal Air Force (ERA) School in Marrakech. This decision comes a few days after the dismissal for economic reasons of a large majority of its pilots.
While it was sending its pilots for training at the National School of Aviation in Toulouse, Royal Air Maroc has now decided to entrust them to the ERA, the training school of the Royal Air Force (FRA), following the new decree, which came into effect in early July. It authorizes the ERA to train RAM pilots, under a contractual framework between the National Defense Administration and the national company, reports Le 360.
These new student pilots come from the recruitment launched by the company in February last with the collaboration of the national pilots’ school in Toulouse. Their training started on September 15 and will last 4 years, with three semesters for university training and two semesters for military and professional training. The same source specifies that the pilots, at the end of their training must undergo an internship period and accumulate 300 flight hours.
At the end of their training and once the diploma is obtained, RAM undertakes to recruit them taking into account the number of available positions, it is indicated. They will also have to commit themselves once recruited to serve within the company for a period of 10 years. Otherwise, they will have to reimburse 850,000 DH, the full amount of the training.
