Royal Air Maroc Sees Surge in Travel as Morocco Reopens Borders

The reopening of the Moroccan borders on February 7 has a positive impact on the activities of airlines such as Royal Air Maroc (RAM), Transavia and Air France. The latter are regaining, or even exceeding, the pre-Covid-19 health crisis levels of sales and attendance.
"We are at the maximum of our capacities between France and Morocco. In some weeks, we even exceed the 2019 traffic levels!" rejoices Ilham Kazzini, commercial director of Royal Air Maroc (RAM), currently staying in Paris to reconnect with her French teams and partners. "The recovery is very strong, the return of the French in such proportions is a very good surprise, whether for our direct lines between France and Morocco or on our flights via our Casablanca hub in continuation to Africa. Bookings are soaring, in both directions," she adds.

The same observation was made with other airlines operating flights between Morocco and France. After "an explosion at the time of the reopening of the borders", Transavia indicates a strong (re)acceleration of sales with 25,000 tickets sold in the week of March 7 to 13, reports TourMag. As for Air France, it indicates that its traffic between France and Morocco "has returned to 2019 levels". "These are first signs confirming a recovery. We are now awaiting the start of the tourist season, from April and May, for which the trends are encouraging," says the management of the French company.
