Royal Air Maroc to Resume 49 International Routes as Morocco Reopens Airspace

Following the announcement of the reopening of airspace to flights departing and arriving in Morocco from February 7, the airline Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has decided to resume all its international routes, which have remained suspended since November 29, 2021.
According to sources contacted by Le360, Royal Air Maroc (RAM) will resume all its international routes, suspended on November 29, 2021 by decision of the Moroccan authorities, who had closed Moroccan airspace due to the rapid spread of the new Covid-19 variant, Omicron, particularly in Europe and Africa. In total, 49 destinations will be served again by the national airline. Hoping for a government decision on the reopening of Moroccan airspace, RAM had been preparing for several weeks to resume its international services, the same sources say.
On Thursday, the Moroccan government announced the reopening of airspace to flights departing and arriving in Morocco from February 7. "This decision comes in accordance with the legal provisions relating to the management of the state of health emergency and following the recommendations of the scientific and technical commission and taking into account the evolution of the epidemiological situation in the Kingdom," it said in a statement. The news has caused a rush to RAM agencies in Casablanca and other cities.
