Royal Air Maroc Rebounds: Restores 90% of Pre-Pandemic Network Despite Slow African Air Traffic Recovery

The national airline Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has managed to redeploy 90% of its pre-Covid-19 pandemic network.
The African Airlines Association (AFRAA) noted that the recovery of air traffic is not accelerating due to the epidemiological situation on the African continent, reports Routes Online. In August, air passenger traffic in Africa reached 46.8% of the August 2019 levels, while capacity was at 54.6% of pre-crisis levels, AFRAA notes, adding that nearly 78% of the intercontinental links of August 2019 were operated again in the same month this year. However, frequency and capacity remain limited.
These difficulties have not been a hindrance for some airlines in Africa, however. This is the case for Ethiopian Airlines, Royal Air Maroc and Kenya Airways. These companies have offered new intercontinental routes in August. EgyptAir, Ethiopian Airlines, Royal Air Maroc (RAM) and RwandAir are now operating about 90% of their pre-Covid-19 intercontinental destinations, the AFRAA specifies. As for Air Algérie, it is at the bottom of the scale (7% of its pre-pandemic level).
