Royal Air Maroc Overhauls Boeing Fleet to Boost Passenger Comfort After Criticism

The explosive criticism on Twitter by the British Ambassador to Morocco quickly prompted the managers of Royal Air Maroc (RAM) to launch a major operation to reconfigure the seats of its Boeing 737-800s, in order to guarantee more comfort to economy class passengers.

Major renovation at Royal Air Maroc (RAM). Nearly 35 aircraft are undergoing a gradual refitting operation in order to avoid disrupting the carrier’s flight plans.

For Le360, the RAM’s Boeing 737-800 aircraft will undergo a reconfiguration from 12/159 to 12/147 (12 in business and 147 in economy).

Thus, 12 seats will be reduced in the economy class, for a total removal of 420 seats, corresponding theoretically to the cumulative capacity of 285 aircraft of the same type, reports the same media.

This announced change came the day after the outbursts of the British Ambassador to Morocco. He had complained on Twitter about the tightness of the seats and the lack of space between the rows on a RAM flight from London to Casablanca.

"I just landed in Casablanca after an uncomfortable journey where I was cramped on RAM. Is it me or has the company reduced the space between the seats?" the British diplomat had written on his Twitter account.

This was enough to provoke a reaction from the managers of this company, who wanted to show their customers that they have a listening ear and a concern for comfort to improve the quality of their service, at the risk of incurring the wrath of other passengers on social networks.
