Royal Air Maroc to Launch New Routes from Morocco to Barcelona

Royal Air Maroc should launch next month two new routes to Barcelona, departing from Nador and Marrakech. All the airline is waiting for is the lifting, on June 10, of the state of emergency imposed due to the health crisis.
As of June 12, the national airline Royal Air Maroc will offer two flights per week between Nador and Barcelona-El Prat airport, operated on Boeing 737-800s. These flights are scheduled for Thursday and Saturday at 2:00 p.m. for departure and the same days, but at 12:10 p.m., for return flights from Catalonia, Air journal reports. On this route, RAM will mainly compete with low-cost Air Arabia Maroc with three rotations per week, Ryanair with two rotations per week and Vueling with two weekly flights.
For its part, after ten years of inactivity, the Royal Air Maroc line between Marrakech-Menara and Barcelona will be operational again from June 13, 2021, with 737-800 flights scheduled for Thursday and Sunday at 2:15 p.m. for departure and at 5:30 p.m. for arrival. For the return, the flights will depart from El Prat airport at 6:30 p.m. to land at 7:55 p.m. This line will also compete with the three companies.
It should be remembered that since last fall, the Oneworld alliance company had already strengthened its presence in Spain, through the establishment in Tangier of connections to Barcelona, Madrid and Malaga. It also serves the Catalan capital from its Casablanca base. It should be noted that, for this summer, Royal Air Maroc plans to launch 14 routes between Morocco and Spain, compared to only 8 in the summer of 2019.
