Royal Air Maroc Joins IATA’s Environmental Program to Boost Airline Sustainability

Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has joined the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Environmental Assessment Program (IEnvA), aimed at achieving sustainability in all areas of air and ground operations.
The agreement was signed with IATA during a recent meeting held in Abu Dhabi on the sidelines of the General Assembly of the Arab Air Carriers Organization (AACO), an IATA statement said, recalling that IEnvA is a key tool for airlines, aircraft maintenance services, as well as on-board catering and ground handling, aimed at achieving sustainability in all areas of air and ground operations.
This new commitment will allow Royal Air Maroc to strengthen its proactive approach to environmental responsibility and confirm it through an internationally recognized certification. Thus, the company has set up an Environment Committee responsible for monitoring all its environmental management-related projects.
Speaking on the occasion, Kamil Alawadhi, IATA’s Regional Vice President for Africa and the Middle East, said: "We are very pleased that RAM has partnered with IATA on this issue and we trust it to work with it to make further progress. Environmental sustainability is an existential challenge for the entire air transport industry. IATA is proud to work with its member company to introduce world-class environmental management practices in the aviation industry."
For his part, Hamid Addou, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Royal Air Maroc, indicated that "this is another step in improving our practices related to the social and environmental responsibility of our company and we will remain very active within the international association to contribute to the progress of our industry on a truly crucial issue."
