Royal Air Maroc Inspects Grounded Fleet, Prepares for Flight Resumption

After more than two months of forced parking at Mohammed V airport in Nouaceur, the planes of Royal Air Maroc (RAM) are being inspected before the resumption of air traffic.
According to an aviation specialist, the operations must primarily be oriented towards the protection of the sensitive systems of the aircraft, in particular the aerodynamic devices, the "Pitot" probes and other static intakes, the angle of attack and temperature probes, essential for flight safety.
Depending on the type of aircraft, the engine is protected by a cover or simply immobilized by attachments, in particular so that the blades do not start to rotate in the void in strong winds, explains the specialist.
RAM technicians will have to start the engines periodically to ensure the lubrication of the mechanical systems and to avoid any risk of corrosion. Similarly, the wheels must be lifted with a jack and turned to prevent their deformation at the low point, specifies the same source. The aircraft’s control surfaces, which are operated from the cockpit, are also affected by these operations.
