Royal Air Maroc Faces Uncertain Future as Fleet Remains Grounded Amid Pandemic

The many steps taken by Royal Air Maroc (RAM) for a normal resumption of its activities are struggling to bear fruit.
Even if for the time being, the national airline has obtained some facilities from the government, namely the postponement or cancellation of social security contributions, tax relief, the postponement of bank maturities, it has not yet managed to obtain the government subsidy for the plan to revive its activities.
More than a month after the decision of several countries to close their airspaces due to covid-19, around sixty of its aircraft are still grounded.
Given the global health crisis and the government’s indecision, Royal Air Maroc is not expected to regain a normal level of activity for at least 24 months. As for the reopening of borders, the probability is almost nil, probably impossible before September 2020.
