Royal Air Maroc Delays Casablanca-Algiers Flights Amid Political Tensions

Royal Air Maroc has postponed the resumption of its flights between Casablanca and Algiers until at least September if the political situation between Morocco and Algeria improves.
Initially scheduled for next month, this resumption has been postponed to next fall, reports Air journal, citing AeroRoutes. Travelers will therefore have to find other alternatives to travel to Algeria from Morocco.
According to the information provided by AeroRoutes after consulting the Global Distribution Systems (GDS), it is planned that the relaunch will take place on September 2, 2023, with four weekly flights operated in Boeing 737-800. These aircraft have a capacity of 12 passengers in Business class and 147 in Economy class. The flights will depart Casablanca on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 10:10 am to land in Algiers at 11:55 am. The return flights will depart Algeria at 1:25 pm to arrive in Casablanca at 3:25 pm, the same source specifies.
In September 2021, the Algerian High Security Council (HSC) had decided to "immediately close" the air borders with Morocco, thus prohibiting Royal Air Maroc (RAM) from serving Algeria and aircraft from Morocco or of Moroccan registration, civil and military, from overflying its airspace.
