Ronaldo’s World Cup Future in Doubt as Portugal Faces Morocco

Football star Cristiano Ronaldo may not participate in the match between Morocco and Portugal on Saturday at 4pm, which is part of the World Cup quarter-finals. His possible departure from the national team is being discussed in the local press.
A Morocco-Portugal match without Ronaldo? This scenario could occur according to revelations from the Portuguese daily Record which reports that the former Manchester United striker would have recently threatened to leave when he learned that he would be a substitute against Switzerland (6-1) in the round of 16. CR7 was indeed not started in this match by his coach, replaced in his position by Gonçalo Ramos, who scored a hat-trick.
In addition, the same source adds, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner did not show up for training the day after this match. Ronaldo limited himself to indoor work, the Portuguese media reported, specifying that he was not suffering from any physical discomfort and was in perfect health.
All these elements leave doubt about his presence, on Saturday, in the squad of the "Seleção das Quinas" against the Atlas Lions. For now, no information has leaked out either from the player or from the team’s staff.
However, "the five-time Ballon d’Or winner would have quickly given up on leaving the gathering, aware of the importance of the moment and the negative consequences his gesture could have had," report other sources close to the Portuguese team.
