Roger Milla Slams North African Teams Over AFCON 2022 Postponement Attempts

When questioned about the attempts by Morocco and Egypt to postpone the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2022) in Cameroon, former Cameroonian international Roger Milla lashed out at the North African federations.
The legend of African football expressed his anger against the federations of North Africa at a time when uncertainties hung over the maintenance of AFCON 2022 in Cameroon, scheduled from January 9 to February 6. "The Maghreb countries, they are the ones who always cause trouble. It is they who always cause disorder, I’m sorry. I’m going to tell them here as their brother, whether it’s Morocco, Egypt or others, that it’s not normal. If they are not African, let them go play for Europe, for Asia or others, but let them not come to cause trouble in the African continent," fumed an angry Roger Milla in an interview with TV5 Monde.
The president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa, and his Egyptian counterpart Hani Abu Rida would have voted for the postponement of AFCON 2022. An attitude that the former Cameroonian international does not digest and he said all the harm he thinks of these countries. "They have always evolved on the African continent. And we have moreover accepted them, so I do not see for what reason today they continue to speak ill of the other countries and of Africa, it is not normal," lambasted the quarter-finalist of the 1990 World Cup.
