Richard Branson’s Moroccan Mountain Retreat Featured in BBC Hotel Series

The first episode of the fifth season of "Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby", a BBC 2 documentary series, has set up camp at the hotel of British billionaire Richard Branson, Kasbah Tamadot, located at the foot of the Atlas Mountains, in Marrakech. Chef Monica Galetti and British lawyer and TV personality Rob Rinder are the co-hosts.
An immersion in the universe of the Kasbah Tamadot hotel acquired by Richard Branson, 72, at the request of his mother Eve, now deceased. She had fallen under the charm of this former fortress located in the Atlas Mountains, formerly owned by a Californian art collector. In "Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby" (BBC 2), the British billionaire explains that the hotel is managed by staff from the local villages, and that tourism has transformed the economy of the region. The cinema evenings by the pool are one of the attractions of the establishment.
Co-hosts Monica Galetti and Rob Rinder snuggled under blankets to watch Casablanca. "I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship," whispers Monica. At Kasbah Tamadot, camels can scare visitors. Rob was also reluctant to kiss a camel. Mohammed, the stable manager, still showed him how to hold a carrot between his teeth so the animal could tear it off with a slimy peck. Not enough to reassure the co-host. Rob looked horrified, and the camel didn’t look very happy either, reports Daily Mail. Meanwhile, Monica was cycling with Branson, who took her to visit the women of the local craft workshop, created by his mother to fight local unemployment.
The Virgin boss moved his guests when he paid tribute to his mother, who died of Covid in 2021. "If you can touch the life of one or two people, then you’ve had a life worth living," he said. Monica and Rob bid farewell to Branson, after having lived unforgettable moments at Kasbah Tamadot. The food, the landscape and the welcome were all wonderful.
