Richard Branson's Moroccan Hotel Kasbah Tamadot Fully Reopens After Atlas Earthquake

Partially closed after the powerful earthquake of September 8, 2023, the famous hotel of British billionaire Richard Branson, Kasbah Tamadot, located at the foot of the Atlas Mountains in Marrakech, has fully reopened.

"I was very proud to see the Kasbah Tamadot team and the Berber communities come together to support the relief efforts alongside the Eve Branson Foundation, raising over £1 million in its Emergency Relief Fund for the earthquake. During the reconstruction, all Kasbah staff continued to work and the Berber tents remained open to support tourism and relief efforts in the surrounding area," says Richard Branson in a post on the Virgin group’s website. He wanted to express his gratitude to all the wonderful people who have made his wish to bring Kasbah Tamadot back better than ever a reality.

The hotel has reopened for the delight of its clientele. "We celebrated the opening with an evening and we were all ready to go. The place was beautiful with floating candles in the pool and the light casting a lovely glow on the Kasbah. It couldn’t have been more beautiful... and then the sky opened up with a torrential downpour (which, fortunately in Morocco, is a sign of good fortune, as it is so rare)," recounts the British billionaire. Six new Riads have been inaugurated as part of the reopening of Kasbah Tamadot. With three bedrooms, each riad can accommodate up to 10 people. Each room has a private bathroom, a living room and a rooftop suite with a hot tub - perfect for relaxing after a day of cycling or hiking.

Each of the Riads also has a private pool. The interior of the Riads is decorated in a traditional Moroccan style, with furniture made by local artisans with the support of the Kasbah Tamadot (Sweet Breeze in Berber) hotel through its Eve Branson Foundation. As for the animal shelter, it has been relocated and transformed into a luxurious tented dining area. Creating a space for dancing and partying. "When I stay here, I feel so connected to my mother’s legacy and I know she would love it," says Richard Branson, inviting foreign tourists to visit Morocco.
