Retired Police Officer Among Three Arrested in Rabat Kidnapping Case

Three individuals, including a retired police officer, were arrested and are the subject of a judicial investigation initiated on Friday by the judicial police of Rabat. They would be involved in a case of kidnapping and sequestration.
In addition to the retired police officer, his brother and a freight transport driver are involved in the case. It all started with a call received on Friday morning, on the emergency number "19", from the Rabat police to report the kidnapping of an individual on board a utility vehicle in the "Hassan" district, according to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) in a press release.
It was therefore in coordination on the ground with the provincial security services of Salé that the police were able to locate the suspects and the victim in Bab Lamrissa in the same city. According to the preliminary data of the investigation, the alleged victim is a man who was the subject of several national wanted notices for his involvement in the issuance of a bad check, according to the DGSN.
It was also established that the victim had fled with a considerable sum of money belonging to the retired police officer. This is what prompted the latter to sequester him with the help of his brother, before contacting his wife to ask her to pay his husband’s debt in exchange for his release, adds the same source.
The accused were placed in custody pending the judicial investigation opened to determine the ins and outs of these criminal acts, as well as to arrest any individuals involved in this case, concludes the DGSN.
