Restaurant Shut Down After Public Food Poisoning Accusation Sparks Health Inspection

An administrative decision led to the closure for one week of a restaurant in Martil, following an inspection that revealed shortcomings in health and safety standards. The inspection by the local authorities was triggered by the public intervention of a former customer who accused the establishment of being the source of her food poisoning.
The incident began when a young woman seized the microphone of a street artist to address the customers of the restaurant. She then declared: "Be careful, don’t eat here, I ate and I was poisoned." She specified that she had been hospitalized due to severe food poisoning and was still under treatment, claiming that she had received neither apologies nor compensation from the restaurateur.
Following this public denunciation, which caused a situation of confusion, the local authorities intervened to carry out an on-site inspection. The examination of the establishment revealed that several health and safety conditions required by law were not being respected.
As a result of these proven infractions, the decision to administratively close the restaurant for a period of one week was pronounced. This temporary measure was taken pending the completion of the legal and administrative procedures initiated against the business.
