Repsol to Exit Morocco as Part of Global Restructuring

After 11 years of activity in Morocco, Repsol plans to leave the kingdom. The Spanish company wants to consolidate its oil and gas exploration and production activities in key geographic areas.
The Spanish company for the exploration, production, transport and refining of oil and natural gas, present in 26 countries, also plans to leave Australia, Iraq, and Ireland. In Ireland, Repsol has already started the process by selling its stake in the Dunquin offshore exploration area. According to Europa press, it currently holds a 75% stake in the South Offshore Gharb block, where small deposits have been discovered. It also manages a commercial office in the kingdom for the marketing and distribution of lubricants.
According to the National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM), Morocco had, at the end of 2018, twelve companies operating in different regions of Morocco as part of oil exploration, both offshore and onshore.
