Renowned Moroccan Chef to Open Mediterranean Culinary Hub in Marseille’s Canebière

Moroccan chef Meryem Cherkaoui is launching a new project: the Maison de la Méditerranée, which will welcome its customers on the Canebière, at the end of this year. This is a new 100% female culinary concept.
"At first, I wanted to do a concept on couscous otherwise with 7-grain semolinas, gluten-free... and then when I visited this premises [50, Canebière, ed.], with all this potential, the project took shape around the Mediterranean," explains the Moroccan chef Meryem Cherkaoui to the site made in marseille. With founders of the solidarity restaurant Le République, she will launch the Maison de la Méditerranée at the former Piery jewelry store on the Canebière, which includes a Mediterranean food court, a training restaurant, a resource center...
This new 100% female concept is dedicated to the employment of women through professional integration. "When I created my school in 2009, in Casablanca, to provide customized training for professionals, I had a lot of women attending. And I find that in Marseille, there are a lot of women in the kitchen, compared to other cities in France, where we have more diversity," notes the one who is recognized by her peers and distinguished on several occasions (L’esprit Entrepreneur Bocuses & Co...).
The Maison de la Méditerranée is expected to open its doors at the end of the year.
