Renowned Moroccan Amazigh Artist Bourhim Outfnout Dies at 87

Mourning in the Moroccan artistic world. Amazigh artist Bourhim Outfnout, whose real name was Abderrahmane Bourhim, has died at the age of 87.
Outfnout passed away on Thursday night at his home in the Tifnout region, Taroudant province. The Amazigh artist was one of the most prominent artistic figures on the Moroccan scene. Beyond singing, he had revealed his talents in poetry, acting, and screenplay writing.
At the beginning of his artistic career in 1961, Outfnout performed only in neighborhoods of Casablanca before starting to produce cassettes of religious songs in Amazigh in 1975. This monument of Amazigh music has more than 50 albums to his credit.
In 1995, the illustrious deceased embraced an acting career by participating in the film "Ghassa Donit Azka Likhrt". Then he developed talents as a screenwriter, producer, and director. Outfnout directed many successful films for which he received numerous distinctions at festivals and artistic gatherings. His loss leaves a great void in the Moroccan cultural and artistic world.
