The Berber cultural world is in mourning. Poet and Amazigh activist Hha Oudadess, alias Mohamed, died on Thursday in Rabat at the age of 73.
It is with sadness that the Amazigh community announced the passing of one of their own. Poet Hha Oudadess has departed. The funeral took place today after the Dhuhr prayer at the "Achouhada" cemetery in Rabat, according to the deceased’s family.
But who was Hha Oudadess? He was born in 1947 into a large and modest family. It was in the Middle Atlas that he completed his primary and secondary studies. With his high school diploma in his pocket in Azrou in 1965, he became a teacher from 1965 to 1967, before joining the Higher Normal School of Rabat in 1967, writes La Releve.
That same year, he became a teacher at the Rabat high school and then at the C.P.R. of the same city, and prepared a third-cycle thesis in mathematics at the Faculty of Science in Rabat. After obtaining a PhD in pure mathematics from the University of Montreal in 1983, he pursued his career at the Higher Normal School of Rabat from 1983 to 2005.
In 2005, after his retirement, he devoted himself to his literary career. He chose to write in French but was convinced by his friends who advised him to promote his mother tongue, Tamazight.
Among his most popular works are: "Isefrades", a collection of poetry published by Editions lamine in Rabat in 2002. There was also "Haïkus d’un Amazigh", published in 2004, with a preface by Houssa Yakobi. We can also mention "scattered thoughts" or Tiwengimin in Tamazight, this third collection by the author, published in 2019, is composed of short poems. Human suffering, joy, gratitude, nature, disillusionment but also hope, are the themes addressed in this work, the same source specifies.
