Renault to Produce New Electric Vehicle ’Mobilize Duo’ in Morocco Plant

As part of the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the Renault plant in Tangier, the automotive group announced the production from 2023 of an electric vehicle model called "Mobilize Duo".
It has been 10 years since the Renault Group has been established in Morocco, actively participating in the development of the automotive industry. With the Tangier plant inaugurated on February 9, 2012, the group has been able to produce 2,360,000 cars in 10 years of presence in Morocco, with brands such as Dacia Lodgy and Dokker. But today the Tangier plant produces the new generation of the Sandero as well as the Renault Express and Express Van.
Thus, the managers have announced that the Tangier plant will now have the main mission of manufacturing the "Mobilize Duo". A 100% electric car dedicated to shared mobility. Good news for Morocco, which has expressed its intention to increase its production of electric vehicles in order to meet the requirements in force in Europe, the main market for cars manufactured in Morocco.
This new model, awaiting production by the Renault Group, will be able to "meet the needs of cities and car-sharing operators. The Tangier plant will see an investment in a new assembly line with a capacity that can be extended to 17,000 vehicles per year, which will integrate the process specific to an electric vehicle," the managers said.
Present at the celebrations of this 10th anniversary, the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, stressed that Morocco is ready for this new partnership. "Today, we are celebrating a successful partnership that is opening up strategic and promising horizons. Renault is once again reinforcing its role as a leading player in the development of the automotive industry in Morocco, an industry that is steadily transitioning towards electrification and sustainable mobility."
