Renault-Nissan Plant Theft Ring: 28 Suspects Face Trial in Tangier

28 individuals appeared before the Attorney General at the Court of Appeal of Tangier, pending their trial before the criminal chamber for the offenses of forming a criminal network, aggravated theft, breach of trust and receiving stolen goods.
On October 17, a unit of the Royal Gendarmerie managed to intercept a truck loaded with spare parts at the exit of the Renault-Nissan plant in Tangier-Med. Two individuals involved in this operation were about to divert nearly 3 million dirhams worth of goods.
The gendarmes’ dragnet came a few days after the dismantling of a criminal network composed of 26 individuals, including several employees of the Renault plant. The accused were no strangers to theft, collaborating with a network of receivers.
The investigation, conducted by the national brigade of the judicial police, resulted in the initial arrest of 6 individuals. Their revelations allowed the dismantling of the rest of the criminal network, as well as dozens of receivers throughout the kingdom.
