Renault to Halt Production at Tangier Plant for Annual Maintenance Amid COVID-19 Concerns

The automobile manufacturer Renault will close its Tanger-Med plant starting next week. This is a maintenance operation carried out on the site’s industrial equipment.
Every year, the number one in the automotive industry stops production at its plants in order to carry out assessments of its machines; a procedure that ensures the reliability and maintenance of the equipment.
A quarter of the 346 cases tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday, June 24 are concentrated in the Renault-Tanger site alone. The outbreak was discovered following mass screening of the plant’s employees.
The operation will have to continue until the end of the week, assures a source within the company, who does not rule out the appearance of new cases, given the large number of employees. The break therefore comes at the right time, knowing that it will force the infected people to be quarantined.
