Record Traffic as 35,000 Moroccan Expatriates Cross Strait During Operation Marhaba

More than 13,000 MREs and 3,000 vehicles joined Morocco from Ceuta last weekend, while 22,365 MREs and 5,144 vehicles made the traffic in the opposite direction, as part of the return phase of Operation Marhaba.
In total, 35,894 MREs and 8,455 vehicles crossed the strait last weekend during this period when the outward and return phases of Operation Marhaba coincide, according to Ceuta Actualidad.
On Sunday, 7,183 MREs and 1,588 vehicles embarked in Ceuta for the port of Algeciras, and in the opposite direction, 4,316 MREs and 1,145 vehicles left this port for Ceuta. As of Sunday, already more than 138,200 MREs and 33,601 vehicles, including 22,000 last weekend, have been recorded as part of the return phase of the Transit Operation.
"Traffic is more fluid," says Gonzalo Sanz, coordinator of the Operation at the government delegation, specifying that the Loma Colmenar waiting area has helped facilitate the passage of MREs.
