Record-Breaking 1.6 Million Watch Morocco-Algeria Soccer Clash on YouTube

The Morocco-Algeria match, played on Saturday in Doha as part of the Arab Cup quarter-finals, was widely followed live on YouTube, setting an audience record.
More than 1.6 million Internet users followed this derby with the air of a final between Morocco and Algeria live on YouTube. A record audience never achieved by the American platform.

Morocco lost this very close match against Algeria on penalties (5-3). The two teams were tied (1-1) until the end of regulation time, before Algeria took the lead during extra time and the Moroccan team captain, Badr Banoun, equalized again (2-2).
Algeria will face host Qatar in the semi-finals. A Qatari team that thrashed the United Arab Emirates 5-0. The second semi-final will oppose Egypt to Tunisia.
