Algeria Edges Morocco in Arab Cup Thriller, Sparks Celebrations in Paris

Algeria won on Saturday, December 11 against Morocco in the last quarter-final of the Arab Cup. In Paris, the Fennecs’ supporters celebrated this victory on the Champs-Élysées.
1-1 in regulation time, 2-2 after 30 minutes of extra time, then 5-3 on penalties, the Fennecs defeated the Atlas Lions on Saturday evening, after a hard-fought match. Algeria thus obtained its ticket for the semi-finals and will face Qatar next Wednesday.
The supporters celebrated this victory on the Champs-Élysées. In Algiers, the joy was at its peak on Saturday night. "Beginning of scenes of rejoicing in Algiers, not seen since the celebrations during the 2019 CAN matches. Yet it is only a victory of the A’ selection in the 1/4 of the Arab Cup. But it is against Morocco in a time of major crisis between the 2 countries, and that’s all the difference," wrote Hamid, an Algerian Internet user on Twitter.
"Congratulations to the brothers of Morocco and congratulations to Algeria," wrote the Algerian international, Sofiane Feghouli.
