Real Madrid’s Brahim Diaz Scores First Goal for Morocco in 4-1 AFCON Qualifier Win

Brahim Diaz scored his first goal for Morocco against Gabon on Friday, in the first round of the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) to be held in Morocco. The Madrid striker delivered an outstanding performance in this match, which ended in a resounding 4-1 victory for Morocco.
In five games with Morocco, including four wins and one draw, Brahim Diaz has just scored his first goal. It was on Friday against Gabon, counting towards the qualifications for the 2025 CAN scheduled in Morocco. The Madrid player, who was very active in this match, also provided two assists.
The Atlas Lion was at the origin of the first big opportunity of the match with a cross shot that did not find the net. A few minutes later, Hakim Ziyech opened the scoring from the penalty spot after a foul on Abdessamad Ezzalzouli. The Galatasaray striker scored the second goal, again from the penalty spot, completing a brace.
The Gabonese reacted to the Moroccan armada, reducing the score thanks to Aubameyang who won his duel against Bounou, after missing a first penalty a few moments earlier. Result before half-time: 2-1.
In the second half, Morocco was more offensive, multiplying the opportunities. Regragui’s men gave the Gabonese defense cold sweats. After several assaults, Diaz managed to find the back of the net before El Kaabi sealed the deal with a fourth goal. Morocco will face Lesotho on Monday as part of the second round of the 2025 CAN qualifiers.
