Real Madrid’s Brahim Diaz Declines Morocco National Team Offer, Opts for Spain

New Moroccan talents abroad have been targeted to wear the national jersey. The young midfielder of Real Madrid, Brahim Diaz, also approached, announced his choice this Thursday, May 28.
Brahim Diaz is not about to play for Morocco. He declined the offer from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation and the national coach, reports the Spanish sports daily AS.
The Spanish player of Moroccan origin said he was very grateful for Morocco’s interest, a country he is very fond of. Born in Malaga, the midfielder feels Spanish and has always played with La Roja.
According to the same daily, close to Real Madrid, Morocco’s interest is not new, as former coach Hervé Renard had also contacted Brahim’s entourage.
At 20 years old, Brahim Diaz has worn the Spain jersey 18 times (nine with the U17s, eight with the U19s and one with the U21s). While the former Manchester City (2016-2019) aims to win a trophy with La Roja, his main medium-term goal is to take part in the Olympics in Japan.
