Rapper Gims Reveals Friendship with Morocco’s King Mohammed VI

Rapper Gims, who has been living between Paris and Marrakech for about 10 years, talks about his relations with King Mohammed VI.
"I met the King of Morocco, his family, we became friends, and that’s where the story begins," he confides to Paris Match. Gims fell in love with Marrakech in 2009. "I discovered the city in 2009 with friends, we stayed there for a few weeks and I liked it," he says. He divides his time between Paris and the ochre city.
In 2017, the rapper had acquired a sumptuous riad in Marrakech. For the performer of "Jusqu’ici tout va bien", it is a joy to find "a place three hours from Paris where it’s always sunny..." He who converted to Islam in 2004 will explain that his move was not made "in a religious approach, even if it is a Muslim country".
Gims and Demdem had their children in Marrakech. His wife is his main advisor. "Demdem’s opinion is so powerful... I consult her on everything, all the time, always, for the clips, for the way I dress, to see if it sounds right or not. And for the children, of course," confides the performer of "Mon cœur avait raison".
