Rapper French Montana Champions Immigrant Contributions at MTV Awards

The Moroccan-American rapper, French Montana, delivered a pro-immigrant speech during the MTV Video Music Awards ceremony in Newark, New Jersey. He positioned himself as a defender of immigrants in the United States.
"As an immigrant, I feel like we are the people who make this country, and I want to be the voice of that," French Montana said during the presentation of the Best Latin Video Award at the MTV Video Music Awards. This award went to Rosalia and J Balvin for their video, "Con Altura".
In a short political speech, he defended immigrants without failing to highlight their contribution to the social and economic progress of the United States. He also pointed out that the nominees are mostly immigrants too and are at the forefront of one of the biggest changes in music.
Agreeing with the Moroccan-American, actress Alisson Brie hammered the point home. "What’s happening to immigrants in this country is unconstitutional and frankly disgusting," she lambasted, thus expressing her outrage at the Trump administration’s anti-immigration policy.
Karim Kharbouch, alias French Montana, never misses an opportunity to claim his Moroccan origin and immigrant status. "I had the privilege of being part of both worlds, even though I was born in Morocco," he had confided to Gq magazine.
