Raja Casablanca Sacks Belgian Coach Marc Wilmots After Three-Month Stint

Arriving in early November 2021, Belgian technician Marc Wilmots only spent three months at the helm of Raja Casablanca. The news of his dismissal was announced on Sunday on Twitter.
The decision seems surprising, especially since Marc Wilmots had been recruited for his expertise and because the club’s leaders were convinced of his ability to raise the level of Raja. With a series of six unbeaten matches and two victories in the African Champions League, Raja is second, eight points behind their arch-enemy Wydad of Casablanca.
Before Wilmots took over the club, the gap between the two teams was only five points. Is he being criticized for not having sufficiently reduced this points difference? The questions about the abrupt end of his adventure in Casablanca remain and the brief announcement on Twitter provides no explanation.
After his departure from the Belgian national football team in 2016, Marc Wilmots has only known short stays with the clubs that have been entrusted to him, notably in Iran and Schalke.
