Rachida Dati Named Republican Candidate for Paris Mayor Amid Resurfaced Prank Story

Unsurprisingly, Rachida Dati was appointed on Wednesday as the head of the Republicans’ list for the March 2020 municipal elections in Paris. But the day after this announcement, a little anecdote about a joke she played on François Fillon in 2007 was revealed by L’express and has since been circulating on the web.
According to the weekly, she was going to a lunch with the Head of State, Rama Yade, Julio Iglesias and François Fillon at the Bristol in Paris. Just before arriving at the restaurant, she signed an attendance sheet at the Paris Council in "tracksuit", before "leaving".
She then took the Prime Minister’s phone during the meal to play a prank on him. She would have sent a flirtatious message to one of the candidate’s friends in the 2017 presidential election, pretending to be him.
Embarrassed, François Fillon quickly realized the deception and called his trapped friend to apologize. "You understand, it’s the Keeper of the Seals who did that...", he then told her.
