Rachid Benmahmoud turns his back on the Moroccan national team
Rachid Benmahmoud has declined the proposals of the Moroccan Football Federation to join Mohamed Ouahbi’s technical staff. The former assistant coach now wishes to embark on a new professional experience outside the environment of the national team.
The Moroccan technician has formalized his departure in the wake of the separation with former coach Walid Regragui. Despite the mediation attempts made by several key players of the "Lions" to retain him, Benmahmoud has firmly expressed his desire to change horizons and distance himself from the entourage of the national team.
The offer from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) to appoint him as technical coordinator with the senior team has also been rejected. According to sources close to the case cited by Hespress, the former assistant prefers to examine the professional opportunities available to him outside the federation.
The discussions would have stumbled in particular on the internal reorganization of the technical staff. The proposal to keep Benmahmoud as the first assistant while also integrating Sacramento in the same position has accentuated the tensions. These disagreements over the hierarchy have precipitated his decision not to continue his mission.
Although the situation is officially described as remaining "open to all scenarios" by some observers, the determination of the person concerned seems to be recorded. Rachid Benmahmoud now aspires to a new challenge, definitively turning the page on the Atlas Lions.
