Rabies Death of Child in Morocco Sparks Outcry Over Stray Dogs and Healthcare

A child has died in Marrakech after contracting rabies following a stray dog bite. The Moroccan Association for Human Rights (AMDH) denounces the "negligence" of the health services and demands an investigation.
The AMDH has sent a letter to the authorities requesting a "clear and impartial" investigation to determine responsibilities and take the necessary measures. The Association accuses the health services of not providing the child with adequate care, leading to his death.
The association also demands compensation for the child’s family and urgent measures to protect the population, including the capture of stray dogs, vaccination of people at risk, and the fight against rabies.
Beyond this tragedy, the AMDH draws attention to the problem of stray dogs and the spread of rabies in the region, calling for the "capture of stray dogs" and the implementation of means to combat this phenomenon, and demanding measures to ensure access to vaccination for all. It denounces the shortages of vaccines observed on several occasions.
