Rabat Plans 9 New Underground Parking Lots to Ease Traffic Congestion

Rabat intends to respond to the lack of parking spaces in the capital. In total, 9 new underground parking lots will be built in different locations, at least that is the wish of the local authorities.
To this end, Rabat Région Mobilité (RRM), the local development company, has entrusted the CID (Conseil, Ingénierie, Développement) firm with carrying out the preliminary studies for the construction of nine new underground parking lots, reports Challenge. Its mission will be to establish an accessibility strategy for these parking lots, at a cost of around 4.3 million DH, in order to offer safe and quality parking spaces, while freeing up space on the surface to promote traffic fluidity.
The CID, as part of this mission which will last six months, will have the role of refining the technical choices and optimizing the design of these parking lots.
Here is the list of the planned locations for the nine new underground parking lots in Rabat:
• Place Abou Bakr Essedik, next to the Badr mosque in the Agdal district (8,000 m²).
• 16 Novembre Avenue in the Agdal district (3,950 m²).
• Post Office Square on Mohammed V Avenue (3,029 m²).
• Mohammed V Avenue, between Rabat Ville station and Moulay Hassan Avenue (7,392 m²).
• New Oulad Dlim administrative area, at the level of the Courthouse (13,000 m²).
• Maa Al Ainine Avenue in the Agdal district (7,283 m²).
• John Ross Square in the Hassan administrative district (7,200 m²).
• Agdal Park, next to the Lycée Descartes (4,500 m²).
• Next to the National Library (6,190 m²).
