Rabat's Jidar Festival Returns: Global Street Artists to Transform City Walls

Jidar Street Art Festival promises this year for its 7th edition, under the sign of audacity, an appetizing program and the presence of an impressive number of artists.

From July 21 to 31, the walls of Rabat will pay tribute to the street art festival in which 12 artists from Morocco, Senegal, Spain, the Czech Republic, Portugal, Canada and Japan will participate. Very well-known or unknown street artists will be there. These include Ed Oner, Reda Boudina, Tima, Beaugraff, Manolo Mesa, Juraj Ďuriš, Pantonio, Bryan Beyung and Twoone.

The program includes mural paintings, poster exhibitions, artistic performances, artist residencies, workshops, concerts (or gig posters). As in each edition, the artists will create a collective wall, which according to the organizers will be sensational this year. The street art festival promises intense highlights this year, including the intervention of Adam Belarouchia on one of the 6 walls of the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rabat. This will be a piece made on a tarpaulin that will surpass the facade of the museum.

This seventh edition, under the sign of audacity, will also pay tribute to the art of screen printing with demonstrations and creative workshops under the supervision of the artist Gemma Berenguer, within the Atelier Ambigu.

The Jidar street art festival was born in 2015, with the aim of giving urban art an image other than the dishonest one attributed to it wrongly by people convinced that it consists in the degradation of public property. In some countries, street art is fought against and its artists are hunted down by the police. This festival therefore intends to show that the enthusiasts of this art form are true artists and can fully participate in artistic and cultural development through their contributions.
