Rabat's Grand Theatre Completed but Remains Closed Due to COVID-19 Restrictions

After 7 years of work, the Grand Theatre of Rabat is fully ready. But it will not be able to reopen its doors until the state of emergency currently in force in the country is lifted.

"All that is missing is the artistic programming for it to start the performances," said an authorized source to Médias 24. Unfortunately, the restrictive measures imposed on performance venues such as cinemas and theaters, due to the current health situation, do not allow the theater to reopen.

It will have to wait for the lifting of these measures before any resumption. In other words, the Grand Theatre of Rabat will not be able to welcome the public before collective immunity is obtained.

With an area of 25,500 m², the Grand Theatre of Rabat benefits from a remarkable geographical location that combines a prestigious history and an exceptional landscape. The wall of Salé and Bab M’rissa on one side, the Kasbah of the Oudayas, the Hassan Tower and the Mohammed V Mausoleum on the other, are all monuments that border the new theater, and testify to the glorious past of the twin cities of Rabat and Salé.
