PSG Steward Jailed in Morocco After 2025 AFCON Final

Lyèce M., a former steward at the Parc des Princes, was arrested after the final won by Senegal against Morocco on January 18. Accused of throwing a water bottle at security forces, he was sentenced alongside 18 Senegalese supporters in a case involving violence that caused more than 370,000 euros in property damage.

In an interview with daily newspaper L’Équipe, his lawyer, Me Jaouad Benaissi, announced his intention to file an appeal first thing Monday morning. He challenges the validity of the trial court’s judgment, stressing the complete absence of visual evidence to support the accusation against his client, who was in the area reserved for members of the Senegalese delegation.

“There was no concrete evidence that could be presented against him,” said defense counsel, explaining that Lyèce M. said he was “shocked” by the three-month sentence even though he maintains his innocence. According to the lawyer, no photograph or video footage shows the young man committing the alleged act, with the arrest based solely on a police officer’s testimony.

The defendant is currently receiving support from French diplomatic authorities, whose representatives were present at the hearing in Rabat. While his family remains mobilized on the ground, the defense hopes to have the sentence overturned on appeal in order to prove the innocence of the former employee of the Paris club.
