PSG Star Hakimi Discusses Career Peak and Ambitions for Moroccan National Team
Saturday 5 April 2025, by
In an interview, the Moroccan right-back of PSG Achraf Hakimi discusses his progress with the club this season, the next Africa Cup of Nations (CAN Morocco 2025) and the recruitment policy of dual nationals implemented by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).
Achraf Hakimi is shining with PSG this season. Is this the best season of his career? "I don’t know if it’s the best. I think I’m in a good moment, a special moment in my life too," the Moroccan right-back responds to Foot Mercato, in an interview conducted after the signing of the strategic partnership between the American equipment manufacturer, Under Armour and the Moroccan international. Achraf hopes to improve much more and give the maximum to do much better than that. "I have a potential that I still have to work on and I will work on it. And at that point, we’ll see an even better version of me," he promises.
The Atlas Lion dreams of winning the next CAN, which will be held from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026 in Morocco. "We only think about winning it, to tell the truth. We play at home, at home, with our supporters. We are ready for that. I think to win this CAN, we must only think about the fact that we are going to do it. That’s the goal, the only thing in mind, is: to win, to win, to win."
The captain of the Moroccan national team also spoke about the recruitment policy of young talents born abroad. Many dual nationals have recently joined the Atlas Lions squad. "I analyze that positively. I see that Morocco is doing well, it gives the opportunity to players who were not born in Morocco to see that the selection is fighting with the big nations of Europe and the World. We work well and the players are ready to defend their country, that of their parents," rejoices the native of Madrid.
