PSG Aims to Secure Long-Term Deal with Star Defender Achraf Hakimi

Recently named vice-captain of PSG, Moroccan right-back Achraf Hakimi could extend his contract with the club. Discussions have been initiated in this direction.
Under contract until 2026 with PSG, 25-year-old Achraf Hakimi could extend his contract with the club. According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, PSG considers the Moroccan right-back as a key player in their long-term project and is working to have him sign a new contract. The subject had already been raised last July. The Moroccan international has agreed with PSG on the principle of an extension of his contract, revealed RMC Sport.

Over time, Hakimi has become a key player for PSG. The third longest-serving player in the Parisian club’s squad behind Marquinhos and Presnel Kimpembe, he likes to take on responsibilities. At a time when PSG is "in full reconstruction, actively seeking new leaders and emerging voices, the former Real Madrid player is now emerging as one of the influential leaders of this new, younger and less experienced locker room," noted Le Parisien. He took on the role of captain on the first day in Le Havre (1-4) and is in his fourth season.
In addition to Hakimi, Gianluigi Donnarumma (25 years old), also named vice-captain whose contract also expires in 2026, could also extend with PSG. The contracts of left-back Nuno Mendes (22 years old), Presnel Kimpembe (29 years old), as well as the Spaniards Marco Asensio (28 years old) and Arnau Tenas (23 years old) also run until 2026.
