PSA Group to Shift Customer Service Operations from France to Morocco

With the announced closure of the Roubaix (North) site of the Conduent call center company, a subcontractor of the customer service of the Peugeot, Citroën and DS brands, the PSA automotive group intends to relocate its call center to Morocco.

Two major reasons could justify the decision to close the Roubaix site. According to several union representatives, the Roubaix call center of Conduent, opened in the spring of 2017, has only one client, PSA, and has lost the latest call for tenders, won by the companies Sitel and Majorel.

In addition, the contract between PSA and Conduent, which was due to expire on December 31, 2020, has been shortened to December 31, 2019. There will be a transition period, which will end with the closure of the site, at the end of June, and the "economic layoff" of 310 employees. "We work until the new service provider in Casablanca is operational," said Fouad Boumedienne.

"We are coming out of a job protection plan (PSE) in Sophia-Antipolis (near Nice) and the elimination of 220 jobs, and now 300 people are on the sidelines in Roubaix," laments a representative of the French Confederation of Christian Workers (CFTC).

"Doesn’t the state, a shareholder of PSA, have anything to say in the face of such practices? The government must act to allow these 318 families to come out on top of this unworthy situation for a country like ours," fumes with anger the deputy of "La France insoumise" of the North, Adrien Quatennens, who has sent a letter to the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, to this effect.
