French Economy Minister to Visit Morocco for Talks on Automotive Sector and Bilateral Cooperation

Bruno Le Maire is expected in Morocco on January 31 for a working visit. The French Minister of Economy and Finance will meet "several senior Moroccan officials", the spokesperson for the French ministry told MAP.
This visit comes a few weeks after the holding, on December 19 in Paris, of the 14th France-Morocco High-Level Meeting. On the sidelines of this meeting, an economic forum had been organized between MEDEF (French employers’ association) and the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM). The work had resulted in the signing of several bilateral agreements in various areas of cooperation.
The issue of the automotive sector will be at the heart of this working session. Some time ago, Bruno Le Maire had been very critical of French carmakers who had chosen to build their flagship models abroad.
Speaking before all the players in the industry, gathered on December 2 at a meeting of the Automotive Platform (PFA), he expressed his bitterness at the fact that the two best-selling vehicles in France, the Clio and the 208, are no longer produced in France.
