EU Provides 5 Billion Dirhams in COVID-19 Aid to Morocco

In the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, the European Union has been of great use to Morocco. Thus, the institution has mobilized about 5 billion dirhams to support the kingdom in managing the crisis and its effects on the economy.
The European Union has just published the assessment of its support to Morocco since the beginning of the pandemic. Thus, "a year ago today, the European Union presented its plan to set up a comprehensive response to support all countries in their fight against Coronavirus," Aujourd’hui Le Maroc reports, stressing that "in Morocco, the European Union has disbursed nearly 5 billion dirhams in promised grants, in support of the Covid Fund and for the benefit in particular of vital sectors, such as health, social protection and education."
Furthermore, the EU is proud to have delivered to Morocco 307,200 doses of vaccines out of the 1,608,000 doses planned under the program, noting that "this delivery, as well as those that will follow in the coming weeks, will contribute to the vaccination campaign undertaken with commitment and voluntarism by the Moroccan authorities," the newspaper stressed. The EU has also reaffirmed its determination to continue to support Morocco in the fight against this pandemic and to mitigate its impacts.
It should be noted that "this solidarity is expressed in particular thanks to the combination of resources from the EU, its Member States and European financial institutions, as a ’Team Europe’," the EU hammered. Moreover, "Team Europe is working to ensure global and equitable access to Covid-19 vaccines and to support the deployment of vaccination campaigns, while exploring opportunities to strengthen local manufacturing capacity" for vaccines, it is specified.
