Protests in Madrid Turn Anti-Moroccan as Thousands Rally Against PSOE-Junts Deal

For the ninth consecutive night, thousands of people demonstrated on Saturday in Ferraz, near the national headquarters of the Spanish Socialist Party (PSOE) in Madrid, to protest against the PSOE-Junts agreement. Anti-Moroccan slogans were chanted during these demonstrations.
"Puigdemont, in prison", "Pedro Sánchez traitor", "Felipe, defend your nation", "MENAS get out of Madrid", "You have no balls with the Moors", "No Moors, Spain is not a zoo". These are some of the slogans chanted by the thousands of protesters at the Ferraz and Marqués de Urquijo intersection.
About 1,700 people participated in this demonstration, according to data from the Government Delegation in Madrid. This protest movement against the agreement between the PSOE and Junts degenerated after violent protesters began throwing firecrackers and bottles at the police and tried to force the security cordon in place, reports El Diario.
After several warnings, the police had to use force to disperse the protesters. At least 14 people were arrested. On Thursday, 24 protesters were apprehended. On Friday, the turnout was lower and one person was arrested. Two police officers and one journalist were injured.
