Protesters Rally Against CNews, Citing Islamophobic Climate in France
Friday 1 November 2019, by
A collective of citizens opposed to the polemicist Eric Zemmour will gather this Saturday in front of the CNews headquarters to call on the channel about its responsibility in the establishment of an Islamophobic climate in France.
According to the Citizen Collective, "Stop Zemmour", they (the columnists, ed.) are "only a symptom of this hysterical collective Islamophobia". But Eric Zemmour and CNews are the "arrogant symbols" of it.
This statement by the Collective, recalls the Muslim post, will have a very particular resonance, after the attack on the Bayonne mosque. The same Collective points out that France has been living under a deleterious Islamophobic climate for decades now, arguing that in recent weeks all the red lines have been crossed, in the name of these "sallies" against Muslims.
This Collective therefore wants the symbol of impunity hatred that is Zemmour. According to them, this symbol "must fall". "These constant calls for civil war on a major TV channel despite Zemmour’s convictions in court are a threat to the French Muslim minority but also to all French people who cherish peace and justice," the Collective continues.
Not wanting to remain idle waiting for the worst to happen first and it being too late, the Collective announced that it would systematically initiate legal actions against this channel against any Islamophobic statement. "We cannot tolerate intolerance and the intolerable," they add.
