Proclamation of Kabylie's independence: Benkirane's severe criticism of the MAK

Abdelilah Benkirane has firmly condemned the proclamation of independence of Kabylie by the MAK. The Secretary-General of the PJD qualifies this act as a "serious fault" and a "colonial plot", considering that it threatens the stability of the entire region.

This stance comes a few days after the official announcement of the creation of the "Federal Republic of Kabylie" by the Movement for the Self-Determination of Kabylie (MAK) and the Kabyle Government in Exile (Anavad), made from Paris.

For the former Moroccan Head of Government, this separation is unacceptable. During the meeting of the general secretariat of his party, he estimated that this event marks the beginning of the realization of plans aimed at fragmenting Muslim countries. "We are already sufficiently divided," he said, calling on the populations of Kabylie to remain in solidarity with their Algerian compatriots despite the difficulties.

On the religious level, Abdelilah Benkirane considered this approach to be unlawful. Invoking the principle of the unity of the nation (Oumma), he argues that nothing justifies aggravating the existing fractures. According to him, the split is an "evil" that must be fought.

The PJD leader also criticized the media and observers who would be delighted with this situation. He described the event as illegitimate and harmful not only for Algeria, but also for Morocco and the entire Maghreb, reaffirming that the strategic interest of the region lies in unity.
