Premier League Allows Muslim Players to Break Fast During Ramadan Matches

The month of Ramadan which should start this Thursday brings its share of changes for Muslim players playing in Europe, including several Moroccan internationals. In the Premier League, they have been allowed to break their fast during evening matches.
It has become a habit in England. During the Ramadan period, players can break their fast in the evening even if they are in the middle of a match. According to Sky Sports News, the decision is good news for Moroccan players playing in the Premier League or Championship such as Hakim Ziyech (Chelsea), Nayef Aguerd (West Ham), Imran Louza (Watford), Anass Zaroury (Burnley).
Instructions have been given to match officials to allow Muslim players to observe a break in play when breaking their fast. Also, before the kick-off of each match, the referees are called upon to identify the players concerned, discuss with them in order to find the right strategy to help them break their fast without drawing attention.
