Premature Baby Dies Following Mother’s Fatal H1N1 Flu Case in Morocco

He could not ultimately be saved by the medical team. The premature baby born by Caesarean section after the death of his mother died on Tuesday evening.
The announcement was made by Said Adni, husband of Yousra Habachi, who died from complications of an A H1N1 flu. She had been admitted to a clinic in Fez before being transferred, in critical condition, to the Cheikh Khalifa Hospital in Casablanca.
In a statement published the day after her death, the hospital provided more details on her death. "The Tamiflu antiviral drug supplied by the Ministry of Health was administered to the patient. But her condition worsened on Saturday afternoon and a Caesarean section was performed to extract the baby, who is currently being cared for in the neonatal unit. The patient died on 01/28/2019 at 6:00 a.m. due to acute pulmonary edema (APE) with cardiac arrest."
The next day, the Ministry of Health tried to reassure the population by stating that "the epidemiological status of the various seasonal flu viruses in Morocco is normal and does not pose a problem," however, calling on pregnant women, children under 5, the elderly and those with chronic diseases to get vaccinated.
