Pregnant Moroccan Woman Airlifted from Mediterranean Ferry for Emergency Hospital Transfer

A 33-year-old pregnant Moroccan woman about to give birth on a ferry traveling from Tangier (Morocco) to Sète (France) was evacuated after the ship’s doctor recommended her transfer to the hospital in Almería.
According to a Sasemar spokesperson, it was 2:46 pm when a UHF call was received from the Italian ferry "Excellent", requesting authorization to carry out a medical evacuation.
The Helimer 220 helicopter was mobilized from the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center in Almería, which moved towards the ship, about 14 miles south of Punta Baños. At the same time, a medical ambulance was waiting for the arrival of the Moroccan woman, who was immediately transferred to the Almería hospital.
