EU Praises Morocco’s Plan to Repatriate Unaccompanied Migrant Minors

The European Union (EU) congratulated Morocco on Tuesday for having decided to definitively settle the issue of Moroccan unaccompanied minors in an irregular situation in certain European countries.
"I welcome this important announcement from Morocco today (Tuesday) regarding the readmission of unaccompanied minors," Oliver Varhelyi, European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, posted on his Twitter account, reiterating the EU’s willingness to continue its "close cooperation with Morocco to address migration challenges" and strengthen this bilateral partnership "in our mutual interest."
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad stated in a press release that King Mohammed VI "has been pleased to reiterate His Very High Instructions to the Ministers in charge of the Interior and Foreign Affairs so that the issue of unaccompanied Moroccan minors, in an irregular situation in certain European countries, is definitively settled."
The sovereign said he had reaffirmed "the clear and firm commitment of the Kingdom of Morocco to accept the return of duly identified unaccompanied minors," the statement said, recalling that "Morocco is willing to collaborate, as it has always done, with European countries and the European Union, for the settlement of this issue" and hopes to be able to count on the good collaboration of countries such as France and Spain, which are the most concerned by the issue.
